Forest Hills Northern Retires Michael Sadler's Jersey

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Another one of our Addix Great American Giveback winners hosted their cause game this past Friday. The Forest Hills Northern Huskies, winner of the Michael Sadler Foundation category of our Great American Giveback honored Michael Sadler on Friday through a jersey retirement, custom throwback jerseys in honor of Michael, and a night of remembrance.

Michael, a graduate of Forest Hills Northern went on to punt for Michigan State University. Shortly after graduation, he was tragically killed in a car accident.

"Michael Sadler was an incredible young man who contributed so much to Northern High School, Through his hard work, determination and quick wit, Mike added so much to the Husky culture. Mike lived his life fully by following his motto, 'The prize is in the journey.' It's fitting that we honor Mike by retiring his FHN football jersey." FHN principal Jon Gregory told Steve Kaminski of MLive.

The FHN Football program came up with the idea to retire Sadler’s jersey earlier this year, and that was a big motivation toward winning our Great American Giveback. As part of winning the Great American Giveback, the Huskies won 50 custom Addix football jerseys for the game. They decided to do throwback jerseys from Michael’s high school days, with “Sadler” across all of the jerseys, and the Michael Sadler Foundation logo on them.

"He was a great student, yes, and he broke all sorts of records on and off the field, and in the classroom. But any person will tell you that Mike was the light in the room. He made everyone else feel so important," Karen Sadler told WILX.

Addix is proud to be partnered with the Michael Sadler Foundation. The Forest Hills Northern online store is currently open for a limited time. Click here to order.
