ADDIX Coach of the Week - Nick Boucher, Lakewood
"Coach Boucher wanted to create a cause game that would unite the Lakewood community and keep the money local."
This week on FOX 17's Morning Mix, our first ADDIX Coach of the Week will be featured! The featured coach will be 1997 Lakewood High School graduate and current varsity football coach Nick Boucher.
His first season at Lakewood as a coach was 2012, the team would later go on to win their first district title in school history in 2016.
Boucher is excited about Lakewood's upcoming Tackling Hunger Game against the Lions of Maple Valley HS. This game is a cause game benefiting Manna's Market, a local food pantry that supplies food, clothing, and personal care items to families and people in need. Manna's Market is the sole benefactor to all profits raised from our cause game. They provide services to an average of 700 people each month.
"It is serendipitous that our opponent for the very first Tackling Hunger cause game is conference rival Maple Valley; as their district also falls within the Manna's Market service area and their families in need can benefit from Manna's Market as well," said Coach Boucher.
Coach wanted to create a cause game that would unite the Lakewood community, and most importantly keep the money local. "Our district struggles with low income families with a large segment of the student population receiving free/reduced lunch. With September being National Hunger Action Month it was an easy choice for a cause," added Boucher.
ADDIX has been busy making shirts and jerseys for the game and we are excited to be a part of such a great cause!
Watch as Coach Boucher talks about the game on FOX 17's Morning Mix. The show airs at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 25th. The game kicks off September 15th 7:00 PM kickoff at Lakewood Unity Field.
